Funding school meals and transportation (Dhaka, Bangladesh)

As in our first donation campaign, we selected The Maria Cristina Foundation (MCF) as our partner once again. MCF believes that education opens endless possibilities for children and adults and empowers them to dream and reach their goals through the learning process. We also believe that education is the key to reveal the potential of the kids, no matter where they live and what their living conditions are.

Most of us did not have to worry about food or transportation when we were in school. In some parts of the world, the level of poverty is so high that families are not able to support their children and provide enough to cover food and transportation costs.

Our second donation campaign was all about the kids. School meals and bus fees for kids in Dhaka (Bangladesh) are not covered by the school or government, which means that kids are usually hungry during the classes. Hunger and learning are not well compatible, as without fulfilling the essential needs first, kids are not able to properly concentrate in classes and put their utmost attention on studying. What is more, lots of families aren’t able to pay for school transport, so children end up walking long distances by foot or, most often, decide not to go to school at all. It is so disappointing that such a simple thing as transportation can keep children from going to school, learning and revealing their full potential.

With the cooperation of Maria Cristina Foundation, we collected money for school meals and covered school bus costs. We believe that this relatively simple gesture might have affected the lives of these little children far more than we could imagine. All in all, this donation campaign was just the beginning of the fulfilling giving-back journey to us.
